Who We Are — And Why It Matters For Your Project

A Boutique Luxury Pool Builder Serving North Houston's Premier Custom Home Communities

Lagniappe Custom Pools is a boutique luxury pool builder based in Spring, TX. We design and build custom gunite pools and estate outdoor living environments for luxury custom homes across The Woodlands, Montgomery, Magnolia, Bentwater, Fulshear, and surrounding North Houston communities. Every project is custom designed from the ground up – and personally overseen from the first design conversation through final walkthrough.

We specialize in custom gunite pools, spas, and complete estate outdoor living environments — each one designed around the homeowner’s property, architecture, and long-term vision. No templates. No shortcuts. No job we’re not personally on.

The Lagniappe Standard

Lagniappe is a French Creole word meaning “a little something extra” – the unexpected detail that elevates an ordinary experience into something genuinely memorable. It’s the philosophy this company was built on.

We founded Lagniappe Pools on a straightforward conviction: most pool companies build to spec. We build to standard. There’s a difference – and it shows up in every decision made on every job site.

Every project is personally overseen. Not handed to a project manager. Not left to a subcontractor to interpret. We stay on our jobs because we know what the right outcome looks like, and we know exactly what has to happen to get there. Our standards don’t change based on who’s watching.

We work in the luxury custom home market because that’s where those standards matter most – and where clients expect the outdoor environment to match the quality and architectural integrity of the home. We don’t take every project. We take the right ones.

Lagniappe. A little something extra – in every square inch we build.

Design-First. Then Build.

Every Lagniappe project begins not with a shovelbut with a conversation. We study the property before we design anything. Sun orientation, lot grade, drainage, sight lines from the home, proximity to existing trees, how the architecture flows outdoors. Every variable that affects how the finished environment will look and live.

Only then do we design. And only then do we build.

We work with a trusted network of trades and premium suppliersselected for their standards, not their price. From structural engineering to final tile selection, every detail is executed with the same level of care. Built to perform beautifully, not just look beautiful, for decades.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Custom Pool Add Value to a Luxury Home?

Yes—significantly. A well-designed custom gunite pool and outdoor living environment can return 50-80% of its investment in home value, particularly in luxury custom home communities across North Houston. Estate-level outdoor environments—those incorporating pools, outdoor kitchens, covered pavilions, and fire features—tend to deliver the strongest returns and are increasingly expected by buyers in the $1.5M+ home market. Thoughtful design and quality construction are the determining factors.

How Long Does It Take To Build A Swimming Pool?

The time it takes to build a pool varies depending on many different factors (size of pool, pool features included, decking and size of deck etc.) From the day of excavation it should take a minimum of 54 calendar days, which is about 8 weeks. Remember though, from the day you sign the contract other things have to happen before the pool can be excavated, such as:

  • HOA or POA (if applicable)
  • Utility marking and clearances
  • City or county permit approval
  • Site preparation and access coordination
Why Do Custom Pool Quotes Vary So Much In Price?

The price of a pool is determined by much more than just the size and shape of the pool. Many pool builders do not include some of the most important factors affecting cost in their proposals. Because there are so many factors that go into building a swimming pool, there are many ways to cut corners. Here are some of the ways pool builders may cut corners:

  • Craftsmanship
  • Automation
  • Quality of materials (smaller pumps, filter, etc.)
  • Design
  • Underground strength
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Warranties
  • Service
  • Home owners associations
  • Marking and finding utilities
  • Permits from your city or county

At Lagniappe, we build every project to the same standard regardless of budget—because the structural decisions made underground are the ones that determine how your pool performs in ten years.

What Water Features Work Best With a Luxury Pool Design?

Water features are one of the most impactful design elements in an estate outdoor environment. The right feature depends entirely on the design, the architecture of the home, and how the space is used. Elevated spa spillways, laminar deck jets, grottos, sheer decent waterfalls, and bubbling features each serve different aesthetic and functional purposes. We recommend selecting water features during the initial design phase—integrating them into the structure from the beginning rather than adding them later, which is significantly more costly and limits design options.

What Ongoing Maintenance Does a Custom Gunite Pool Require?

A custom gunite pool requires routine maintenance to perform at its best year-round. This typically includes weekly chemical balancing and skimming, monthly filter cleaning, and seasonal equipment checks. In the North Houston area, pool season runs nearly year-round—making proper maintenance particularly important for both aesthetics and longevity. We recommend establishing a relationship with a qualified pool service provider before your pool is complete so maintenance begins immediately after startup.

Should I Build My Pool During Home Construction or After?

Building your pool during home construction is almost always the better choice—and it’s one of the most important conversations to have with your builder early in the process.

The advantages are significant: excavation and construction traffic integrates seamlessly with the home build, utility connections are easier to coordinate, and the outdoor environment can be designed in concert with the home’s architecture from the very beginning—ensuring the pool, patio, and living spaces relate properly to the home’s layout, sight lines, and elevation.

Lagniappe works directly with custom home builders throughout The Woodlands, Montgomery, Magnolia, Fulshear, and surrounding North Houston areas. If you’re in the design phase of a new home, we recommend scheduling a design consultation before your slab is poured.

Do You Work With Custom Home Builders in The Woodlands and Surrounding Areas?

Yes—builder partnerships are a core part of how we work. We collaborate with custom home builders throughout The Woodlands, Montgomery, Magnolia, Fulshear, Bentwater, and surrounding North Houston communities. We offer complimentary conceptual pool designs for builders on active or upcoming projects, and we work directly with architectural plans to ensure the outdoor environment integrates seamlessly with the home’s design. If you’re a builder interested in a trade partnership, we’d welcom the conversation.

Can a Custom Pool Be Designed for a Smaller or Restricted Lot?

Absoultely—and some of our most creative design work happens on properties with lot restrictions, HOA setbacks, or limited square footage. A smaller footprint doesn’t mean a lesser experience. Cocktail pools, plunge pools, and compact custom designs can deliver the same resort-caliber aesthetic as a larger build—thoughtfully engineered around the specific constraints of the property.

If you’re working with a restricted lot, we welcome the conversation. Good design solves problems—and the tighter the constraints, the more intentional the result.

Do You Work With Clients Who Are Financing Their Project?

Yes. We work with homeowners who choose to finance their pool project through lending institutions that specialize in luxury home improvement and pool construction financing. A custom outdoor environment is a significant investment, and financing can be a practical tool for managing that investment strategically—particularly when building alongside a new home.

If financing is part of your plan, we’re happy to discuss options during your design consultation.
